April Newsletter 2026

April newsletter 2026

🌼 What’s Been Happening?

We kicked things off with our Trustee Meeting (14th April) and Management Meeting (20th April), with one big focus… the Spring Fayre!

Alongside that, we’ve been investing in learning and growth. Andrew and Sheila completed training on reserves policy, helping strengthen how we plan financially for the future. More training is lined up, including safeguarding, bid writing and reporting, so we’re building skills behind the scenes too.

🌞 Spring Fayre Highlights

Despite the sunshine trying to tempt people elsewhere, our Spring Fayre (26th April) was a lovely day:

  • 18 stall holders
  • 164 visitors through the doors
  • A buzzing atmosphere across the building

And together, we raised £400 through table bookings, donations and sales 👏

A huge thank you to everyone who came, supported, volunteered or hosted a stall. These events really do bring the community together.

💬 Community & Activities

April saw a great mix of regular and one-off sessions, from fitness and wellbeing to support groups and social spaces.

We also tested something new with a Friday Jigsaw Morning. While it has been a bit quiet, we’ve listened to feedback and will bring it back in autumn when cosy indoor activities feel just right again.

📣 Getting the Word Out

Our community keeps growing:

We’ve a been out and about with flyers, banners and displays, making sure people know what’s happening here.

🔧 Behind the Scenes

There’s been loads happening to keep the building looking its best:

  • Painting and refreshing spaces
  • Deep cleaning
  • Fixing, fitting and improving little details
  • Garden tidy ups and litter picks
  • Preparing every corner for the Spring Fayre

It’s the small things that make a big difference, and there’s a lot of pride in the space.

💡 Good News Updates

  • Our stair lift is ready and booked for installation in May
  • Progress continues on the Heritage Fund application
  • Energy bills are starting to drop with warmer weather (finally!)

🤝 Community Connections

We’ve been out sharing what we do too:

  • A talk to a local group raised a £45 donation
  • Ongoing work with health networks and community partners
  • Plans underway for upcoming local events and festivals

🙌 A Huge Thank You

None of this happens without people giving their time.

In April alone:

  • Trustees contributed 192.5 hours
  • Volunteers gave 59 hours

That’s an incredible amount of time, energy and care going into the centre.

💛 Thank you to every single person who shows up, helps out and keeps things moving. You are what makes this place what it is.

🌱 Looking Ahead to May

  • Stair lift installation
  • Office finishing touches
  • Starting redecorating work
  • Progressing multiple funding applications

If you’d like to get involved, try something new, or just pop in for a chat, you’re always welcome.

Here’s to a busy, bright spring ahead 🌼
