Foundry Street Community Centre: November 2025 Newsletter
November may have brought shorter days and chillier weather, but it’s been another busy and positive month at Foundry Street! Here’s a round-up of what’s been happening, with a sprinkle of festive cheer as we head towards December.
Meetings & Updates
- Our Trustee meeting was delayed by a week and took place on Monday, 10th November, followed by a management meeting on 24th November.
In the Spotlight
- We were interviewed by Hope Not Hate (Bradford), who are launching a new Halifax-area newsletter and plan to feature Foundry Street.
Maintenance & Upgrades
Inside the Building
- Fixed wiring installation testing took place from 10th - 12th November by Swift Electrical.
Outside the Building
- A big thank you to Frank Page, volunteer extraordinaire, for doing some litter picking
- We’ve installed a Ring camera over the Undercroft entrance as a trial to improve security.
Our Users
November and December are traditionally quieter months, with many new groups choosing to start after Christmas.
- Youth Justice Services booked several additional sessions this month.
- Mand’s Tai Chi moved daytime sessions to the evening, and attendance has improved significantly!

- Another popular Jewellery Workshop took place on Sunday, 23rd November in the Eric Taylor Lounge.

Looking Ahead: December & Beyond
December will be a little quieter than usual due to Christmas falling on a Thursday, giving us two long weekends. Many regular groups have already rearranged sessions.

Partnerships & Associations
- Andrew hosted a meeting on 14th November with Active Calderdale and Family Hubs to explore relaunching the Sowerby & Sowerby Bridge Wellbeing meetings in the New Year.
Plans for December
- Main focus: Christmas Artisan Market (14th December)
- Putting up more Christmas decorations than last year
- Getting ready for snow and winter weather
