Sowerby Bridge Boxing Club Celebrates Yorkshire Champions

Sowerby Bridge Boxing Club, which trains at Foundry Street Community Centre, is celebrating an incredible achievement with three of its boxers securing Yorkshire titles in recent competitions.

🥊 Marley Musgrove - wins the Yorkshire challenge belt at 60kg, a fantastic display of boxing sees Marley win by unanimous decision.

🥊Logan Hardaker delivered a dominant display to win the Yorkshire Championship at 60kg, overcoming tough competition from Doncaster with a unanimous decision.

🥊 Jimmy Honey, already a Yorkshire titleholder at 66kg, successfully defended his belt for the second time in a highly competitive bout, winning by split decision. 

Speaking to the Halifax Courier, Jimmy shared:
"I’m proud of getting the belt on our home show. I’ve been training since I was six and come from a boxing family. I’ve now won fourteen of twenty-four amateur bouts and have been a champion at box cup tournaments in Manchester, Hull, and the Home Counties. I love it at Sowerby Bridge Boxing Club. Coming here three years ago was the best thing I’ve done. I settled in quickly and train with great people who have my best interests at heart. My ambition for 2025 is to become a national champion, maybe in years to come, a professional boxer. I admire Tyson Fury given how he’s struggled and succeeded where most people couldn’t have."

🏆 This is an incredible success for Sowerby Bridge Boxing Club, proving that passion and perseverance can lead to outstanding achievements, even in a small-town club. The hard work and dedication of the boxers, along with the support of their coach Jonny Maude, has made this possible.
