Foundry Street Community Centre Newsletter β February 2025
A Busy Month at the Centre!
February has been full of activity, with plenty of changes (version 7 of the calendar was hand-altered to avoid version 8!). Alongside finishing the Leslie Godfrey Lounge, we tackled many odd jobs and general maintenance to keep the Centre running smoothly.
The weather was typically cold, though we saw a sudden warm spell around 21st February, hopefully the first signs of spring and some relief on heating costs!
Foundry Street Community Centre Newsletter β January 2025
A Chilly Start to the Year!
January came in freezing as heavy snow on the 5th turned roads into ice rinks and pavements into obstacle courses! βοΈ While some sessions went ahead, numbers were down as people sensibly stayed indoors with a cuppa. Hopefully, February will bring better weather and busier sessions!
Welcoming a New Face!

Kate Dearden MP Cost of Living Event
Kate Dearden held a Cost of Living event at Foundry Street on Friday 25th October 2024. This was by appointment only, but Kate and her team still saw numerous people who dropped in on the day. There were also several stands displaying services from organisations like Citizens Advice, Union Credit, etc.
International Day of Older People, 1st October 2024
The Leslie Godfrey lounge was set up with stands and displays for the many organisations taking part on the day. The Eric Talyor lounge was also in use to served refreshments and somewhere to sit and rest, or talk with others. Over 70 people visited the event over the 90 minutes it was held. All agreed it was a huge success.
