One Year Anniversary
Kate Dearden MP Cost of Living Event
Kate Dearden held a Cost of Living event at Foundry Street on Friday 25th October 2024. This was by appointment only, but Kate and her team still saw numerous people who dropped in on the day. There were also several stands displaying services from organisations like Citizens Advice, Union Credit, etc.
International Day of Older People, 1st October 2024
The Leslie Godfrey lounge was set up with stands and displays for the many organisations taking part on the day. The Eric Talyor lounge was also in use to served refreshments and somewhere to sit and rest, or talk with others. Over 70 people visited the event over the 90 minutes it was held. All agreed it was a huge success.
Fundraising event for Overgate's Big Build
Keep Active Fitness held a special event on Saturday 7th September 2024 in order to raise funds for Overgate Hospice and their Big Build project. FSCC offered the use of the building free of charge for this good cause, which allowed the hall, both lounges and the kitchen to all be used.
New settees for the Eric Taylor lounge
After decorating the Eric Taylor lounge the two existing orange leather settees just did not fit, plus they were starting to fall apart. We managed to find a matching pair of Chesterfields that have come out of a 5 star hotel in London following a refit and are just the right colour. The old, orange settees have found a new home with one of our user group leaders.

Open Day 2024
On 30th March 2024 FSCC held their first Open Day, to show off the Centre and the user groups currently in the Centre. Doors opened at 10am, with a busker playing a violin at front door. We had a steady stream of visitors all day, including the Mayor and Mayoress, who were treated to demonstrations of some of the user group acivities in the hall - boxing, karate, table tennis, line dancing, etc.
New Signage for the building
On the 15th March 2024 we had the main sign on the side of the building replaced with a new one. Identical in size to the old one, the new one features our new logo. The sign was made and fitted by Ensign Signage of Sowerby Bridge, with the free loan of a scissor lift from Enterprise Pland hire at The Nook.
